Hey, my friends. Welcome, welcome. When this airs, I will just be getting back from a hiking trip with my family for the kids’ spring break. If you have listened to prior podcasts, you will know that I have a huge wanderlust and a bucket list of 25 epic trips in 25 years. Most of the trips on the list are outside of the US. But, even though my husband and I are vaccinated, my kids are not, and there are major restrictions in travel outside of the US still, so this spring break was one that we decided to stay local and do some hiking. It’s a good time to be away from crowds and 4 teen boys can carry good packs. I’ll share some pictures in the Facebook group of our adventures. I have to admit, I was hoping to complete our Patagonia trip that got cancelled at the start of the pandemic. Episode 42 Shownotes - Pregnancy after Cancer

Welcome back friends, and welcome to all the new folks! If you are new to the podcast, I’m glad you’re here! This is one of those weeks where I didn’t know ahead of time what I was going to write about, and then I happened to have a minisession with a lovely young woman struggling with fertility decisions after treatment for breast cancer. This topic has been on my list, but not made it to the top, but after speaking with her, I realized the universe was telling me “It’s time”. The discussion with the young woman was so helpful, for me and for her as well. I love to know what people are struggling with so I can tailor what I am doing, and she said the free session helped her and her husband to reframe their discussions, and her to realize that her fear of missing out on the opportunity to grow her family was actually more pressing than her fear of recurrence.

Episode 6 Shownotes - Feel Better Now

You are listening to the Best Life After Cancer Podcast, Episode #6.
Hi, and welcome back! This has been a crazy week here, and when I wrote this episode, I thought it was just what was going on in my life. I have recently been diagnosed with kidney stones, and this past week I had a lithotripsy, a procedure where they use sound waves to break up stones in the kidney and ureter. One of the benefits of being in medicine is that getting stuff done is a lot easier and less stressful, but even with that, it still isn’t fun. In NJ, you have to have a COVID test and be shown to be COVID negative for any nonemergent surgical procedure. I have a lot more sympathy for patients getting the test – they stick a qtip up your nose and it feels like they swab your brain. But, I was negative, and got the procedure. I knew all the folks in the OR, from the surgeon, to the anesthetist, to the guy who runs the lithotripter, so it was almost like getting together with a group of friends,...
